Last time every starting QB has been shut out

Since it is the offseason and I was bored, I decided to make a list of the last time every starting NFL QB was shut out. There's a lot of interesting tidbits in here. I placed them in order of the most recent, and then at the end, a list of everyone who has not been shut out:

Brock Osweiler – 2016 HOU @ NE, 0-27 (only shut out this one time in career)

Brian Hoyer – 2015 HOU vs KC, 0-30 (only time in career, but was a home wildcard playoff game)

Matt Ryan – 2015 ATL @ CAR, 0-38 (only shut out this one time in career)

Derek Carr – 2014 OAK @ STL, 0-52 (only shut out this one time in career)

Philip Rivers – 2014 SD @ MIA, 0-37 (only shut out this one time in career)

Andy Dalton – 2014 CIN @ IND, 0-27 (only shut out this one time in career)

Eli Manning – 2014 NYG @ PHI, 0-27 (shut out 5 times in his career, 3 away, 2 at home, one of which in the playoffs)

Ryan Tannehill – 2013 MIA @ BUF, 0-19 (shut out twice in career, both away games)

Carson Palmer – 2009 CIN @ NYJ, 0-37 (only shut out this one time in career, other shutout, Kyle Boller was the starter)

Alex Smith – 2007 SF @ SEA, 0-24 (shut out twice in career, both away games)

Ben Roethlisberger – 2006 PIT @ BAL, 0-27 (shut out twice in career, both away games)

Tom Brady – 2006 NE @ MIA, 0-21 (shut out twice in career, both away games)

Josh McCown - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT (NOTE: involved in 2 career shutouts, but did not start either game, one in 2002 and 2003)

Aaron Rodgers - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT (NOTE: only shutout he was involved in, Brett Favre was the starter, and played more than Rodgers --- 2006 GB@ NE, 0-35)

Tyrod Taylor – HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Joe Flacco - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Andrew Luck - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Marcus Mariota - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Blake Bortles - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Tom Savage - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Trevor Siemian - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Dak Prescott - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Kirk Cousins - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Carson Wentz - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Mike Glennon - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Matt Stafford - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Sam Bradford - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Cam Newton - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Drew Brees - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Jameis Winston - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Jared Goff - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

Russell Wilson - HAS NEVER BEEN SHUT OUT

A few interesting takeaways:

  • Eli is the only QB to be shut out more than twice, at a staggering five times.
  • Eli and Hoyer are the only two QBs to be shut out in the playoffs
  • McCown, Eli, and Hoyer are the only QBs to get shut out at home
  • EDIT: The most consecutive games currently without a shutout are Brees (by a wide margin, at 232 plus 11 playoff games, for a total of 243), Roethlisberger (148 games, 168 including playoffs), Brady (140 games, 163 including playoffs), Flacco (138 games, 153 including playoffs), and Rodgers (135, 151 including playoffs). Stafford (109 games, 112 including playoffs) and Alex Smith (106 games, 112 including playoffs) are the closest.
